Bibliometric Evolution of Innovation in Emerging Economies: Trend and Citation Structure Analysis (2016–2019)
Main Article Content
Abstract
To analyze the bibliometric evolution of innovation in emerging economies during the 2016–2019 period by identifying patterns of scientific production, citation structures, and dominant thematic trends. Methodology: The study was conducted from a quantitative bibliometric perspective using information derived from scientific citation records published between 2016 and 2019. Correlation and linear regression procedures were applied to examine the behavior of academic production and its relationship with scientific impact. In addition, a thematic review was carried out based on titles, keywords, and recurring research lines identified in internationally indexed databases. Results: The statistical analysis identified a positive association between the volume of publications and the number of citations recorded during the study period (r = 0.78). Likewise, the regression model yielded a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.61, indicating a considerable explanatory capacity within the observed behavior. From a thematic perspective, the dominant research lines are related to technological innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation, reflecting a growing integration of interdisciplinary approaches within the field. Conclusions: The findings show that research on innovation has progressively strengthened its presence within emerging economies, particularly through dynamics associated with technological integration and sustainability. The observed citation structure suggests scientific consolidation processes that remain concentrated around certain thematic cores, although with a gradual expansion toward more interdisciplinary and applied approaches.
