Urban parks as an element of the city: environmental, social and economic benefits

Abstract
Urban parks are considered as fundamental elements that make up the physical-environmental system of the city. However, there are still concerns regarding the function of the urban park and its attributes. The present work aims to conceptualize the urban park, its nature and function, as well as its benefits in the urban environment. The methodology is oriented to investigate these aspects on the basis of the available literature to achieve the formation of concrete concepts. The results allow defining the function of the urban park within the city and identifying its elements and typologies; also establish its main benefits in the environmental, social and economic dimension. It concludes on the complexity of the urban park concept based on the depth of the study of its elements, while proposing a set of ideal attributes from the physical, environmental, social and economic aspects.
