Abstract

Since it beginning, the heavy metal culture has been object of questioning by an important segment of society, to the point of being labelled as a generator of punishable or deviant conduct, supposedly because this culture doesn´t share the traditional principles an values of society. This research aims to establish how countries as Colombia, Mexico, Brasil, Argentia and Chile have activated different forms of control in the belief that followers of this musical genre prone and induce to perform social rejected acts, such as violent acts, war, consumption of narcotic drugs and acts that impinge physical or sexual integrity. But, ¿is the heavy metal culture directed to make apology for crime ? or on the contrary, ¿ does it enhances and denounces violations of basic society principles as justice, peace, care for the environment, among others, turning out to be a catalyst for humans, especially for youth?
